the USSR and the U.S. were the world's leading superpowers during the cold war. After World War 2 these two world powers were competing in a race. Both of them being world powers and armed with atomic weapons they did not get in to any actual fighting. The mere cost of keeping up with each other was high for both countries. For the USSR itwas like so many things at the same time. Their economy soon collapsed at the high price of competing with the U.S. With the collapse of the USSR the communist countries that they supported soon also collapsed due to the fact that their main source of money came from Soviet Russia.

AFRICAN INDEPENDENCE
africa changed so much during the 20 year time period.
one of the causes of the african change was because the british colony developed the first african colony in south sahara to basically achieve independence, called the gold coast. some of the leaders during the african independence were: mobutu sese seko,ahmed ben bella,kwane nkrumah and jomo kenyatta.
kwane nkrumah was the most important leader becuase he was the one who helped to liberate the Gold coast from the british.
after all the revolutions and stuff the had they finally received their independence and they took the name ghana and this nation became the first nation to be governed by black africans.
